Ripe and sweet the nose has depth the richness of ripe peach and nectarines the palate has a creamy mix silky in the middle. The mid palate has ripe stone fruits and pear the back palate is lighter smoky with hazel nuts and gingery spice the finish has length the fruit lingering. 2018-26
The Coddington keeps to its stylistic norms of being the riper, juicier wine of the single vineyard trio. With 25% new oak of a higher toast than the Hunting Hill or Mate's Vineyard, there is sweet vanilla, peaches, preserved lemons and creamy undertones on the nose here. The palate is smoky and rich, relatively full bodied and concentrated. The bright acidity props up the ripe fruit, but this is open, expressive and ready to go. The finish is juicy in ripe stone fruits and smoky with well-judged use of oak.
Ripe, quite lush chardonnay with stone fruit, peach, apricot and nectarine flavours, with citrus and a seasoning of hazelnut and ginger characters. A very attractive wine with an impeccable balance and a lingering finish.
Sleek and slightly muted nose. Teenage again. Chalky texture and quite blowsy, almost floral, fruit. Reticent.
Drink 2019-2030
The ripe, creamy-textured 2016 Coddington Chardonnay also boasts a crisp, tight line of pineapple and citrus that pulls the wine together and gives it depth and shape on the palate. Toasted grain and white peach notes provide much of the flesh, but there's also a silky, custardy feel on the palate, extending through the lengthy finish. 2018 - 2026
Some richer ripe fruits and attractive spicy oak influence across a wealth of yellow peach, nectarine and mango. The palate has good depth and density with smoothly rendered fleshy stone fruits that carry long and even. Drink now. Screw cap.
Quite a rich wine with some caramel and plenty of dried-pear character. At once creamy and well-structured, this is pretty concentrated chardonnay that can easily stand next to burgundian Premier Crus from top producers. Long, citrusy finish that makes a bold statement. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
