The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru is very fine, offering up a dramatic nose of ripe red fruit, bonfire, espresso roast and sweet loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is rich and powerful, evidently structurally firmer and more masculine than the Beaumonts, although its tannins are similarly cloaked in a deep core of succulent fruit. There's also good freshness here despite the considerable power and amplitude.
**Note: from a total area of 1.06 ha with 60 to 65 year old vines in the climats of Les Treux and Cruots that have .63 ha and .43 ha, respectively**
Once again subtle but not unnoticeable wood surrounds the slightly riper and liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, sandalwood, Asian spice elements and a lovely array of floral scents. There is both excellent volume and concentration to the opulent and seductively textured flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the markedly firm finish that is very much built-to-age. There is a hint of warmth but other than that, this is very impressive.
