Aromas of green apple, pastry cream, confit citrus and white flowers introduce the 2017 Mâcon-Bussières Vignes de Montbrison, a medium to full-bodied, satiny wine with a bright line of acidity and a precise, stony finish. Enough wood to comment upon frames the liqueur-like aromas of pear and citrus where a whiff of the same leesy character I have mentioned lurks in the background. There is slightly better energy to the reasonably well-detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess a plump and rounded mouth feel while exhibiting a bit better length on the sappy finish.
Floral the nose has fragrance and freshness the palate a sweeter feel ripe greengage in the middle. At the back the rich fruit is balanced by apple and citrus rich fruit depth of flavour on the finish. 2018-23
This plot is located in the village of Vergisson within the Pouilly Fuissé appellation with vines an average of 40 years old. Free run juice was vinified and elevaged entirely in barrel - of which 20% were new. The wine was bottled after 6 months further oak maturation with regular batonnage. Juicy pears with just a touch of spice leap from the glass on the nose here. The palate is juicy and broad, with a light creaminess balanced against crisp, vibrant acidity. Bright stone fruits, ripe lemons and a light toastiness linger on the finish. Perfectly balanced and delicious early drinking.
