The 2017 Mâcon-Pierreclos 1er Jus de Chavigne is performing brilliantly, offering up a lovely bouquet of pear, white peach, pastry cream and wheat toast. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with serious intensity and chewy extract, racy acids and a long, chalky finish. This far surpasses its performance from barrel, and its structured, concentrated profile suggests it will demand some patience, promising considerable rewards. Revisiting my conservative tasting note from twelve months before, I feel a little like the mayor of Amity Island in "Jaws," shouting "open the beaches" and encouraging people to take to the water, with no notion of what is about to happen. 2022-2037
Bitter orange peel the nose is bright and fresh the palate has a complex mix of fresh fruits. Richer at the back ripe pears and passion fruit the sweeter flavours underpinned by tangerine and mineral. 2019-25
