Very fine and detailed with lovely focus and freshness. Lively cherry and plum fruit with some spiciness. Nice freshness and detail with some grip. Good structure and acidity.
The Earth Smoke Pinot Noir is named after the fumitory herb. It is one of the lowest vineyards in the property which possibly explains the more generous fruit character, both on the nose and on the palate. It also has a much heavier clay soil which produces a denser, more savoury style of Pinot, not entirely dissimilar to Gevrey. There are layers of complexity here with ripe red cherry fruits, subtle hints of spice and a very moreish acidity running through the wine to a very long finish. This is a very serious Pinot. 283 cases were made, the alcohol is just 12.5%.
