The 2015 Tertre Blanc is the maiden release from the Margaux estate, though because of the grape varieties (read on), it is labelled "Produit de France." It is a blend of 42% Chardonnay, 11% Sauvignon Blanc, 16% Viognier and 31% Gros Manseng - unorthodox for Bordeaux. It will be bottled in the middle of April. It has a rather Burgundy-like bouquet, almost like a Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc with a pinch more spice. The palate is driven by the Chardonnay, well balanced, quite smooth and rounded in texture with an appealing spicy, lemongrass finish. Not a profound wine for sure, but a success and I look forward to tasting forthcoming releases.
