The 2017er Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Kabinett Nr. 45 was made from fruit harvested at 85° Oechsle. It offers a gorgeous even if reduced nose of cassis, orange blossom, yellow peach, gooseberry, melon, pear, herbs and slate, all wrapped into residual scents from its spontaneous fermentation. The wine rewards one with a stunning feel of fresh fruits and delicately creaminess on the palate yet proves remarkably focused in the finish thanks to a ripe kick of acidity. This is a breathtaking feather-light yet deeply complex effort. 2027-2042
A very fine peachy nose. Concentrated and super elegant, this is a great Kabinett with excellent aging potential. The very long finish shows great sophistication. Drink or hold.
This is a single fuder of Abtsberg Kabinett that has been reserved for Trier and it has more of the cut and backend salty minerality from high extract that the top Kabinetten of the vintage exude. The bouquet is pure and beautifully detailed, offering up scents of apple, pear, violets, bee pollen, a nice touch of Abtsberg mossiness, wild yeasts and an outstanding base of slate. On the palate the wine is pure, medium-bodied and laser-like in its focus, with excellent cut and grip, fine filigree and impressive backend tension on the long and complex finish. This is a great bottle of Kabinett in the making. Drink between 2022-2055.
