Once again the nose is quite firmly reduced so be sure to decant this if you're not prepared to cellar if for at least a few years first. By contrast there is exceptionally good freshness and intensity to the impressively refined medium-bodied flavors that possess a sophisticated mouth feel as well as superb finishing depth and length. This strikingly stylish and balanced effort should amply repay extended keeping.
The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes has a straight down the line walnut- scented bouquet tinged with smoke and flint – voluminous like so many Meursault Charmes this year. There is very good intensity here. The palate is showing the new wood a little more than other premier crus from Lafon, but there is fine depth with veins of orange peel and tangerine, gradually building toward a generous walnut tinged finish. This is a very impressive Meursault that will surely come into its own after bottling.
