CS Mid crimson. Velvety but not particularly expressive at the moment. Lots of freshness and vigour and relatively appetising and no more than mid weight. Rather lissom in fact – definiteinly on the feminine/Blonde side of Côte Rôtie in style. Probably worth keeping to see what happens but you certainly could start drining it within less than four years….
Probably the finest basic Cote Rotie he has made since 1991 is the 2006 Cote Rotie Les Becasses. Dark ruby/purple with notes of cassis, bacon fat, smoke, and tapenade, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ripe, chewy, and long. This is heady stuff, a classic Cote Rotie that can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years.
