This wine is made from a section of the Roc de Cambes vineyard that is only entitled to the straight Bordeaux appellation. In the past only 20% new oak was used but Francois Mitjavile now thinks that the quality of the fruit deserves 100% new Radoux blend barrels. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernets. Around 16000 bottles are produced from 6 hectares of vines.

Spicy and sweet on the nose, this is complex and enticing with notes of bramble, pepper, game and redolent summer fruits. The palate is silky, rich and hedonistic, the tannins fully melted into the explosive fruit at the core. Sweet vanilla, earthy mushroom and fleshy plums and cherries shine through to a long, moreish finish. An absolutely gorgeous Domaine de Cambes that will drink wonderfully when young.
The 2018 Domaine De Cambes offers more black fruits and smoked earth, with hints of tobacco and chocolate. It's layered, beautifully ripe, and has plenty of mid-palate oomph. It’s another sexy release from François Mitjavile that’s well worth seeking out.
(80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc) | 100% new oak | 15.5% alc. The Asian spices and cloves on this wine are incredible. It has a cooler feel than the L’Aurage (q.v.) and the control and length are astounding. The freshness of red fruit on the surface of the flavour coupled with the depth of black fruit in the core is extraordinary. This is a wild, fabulously velvety wine with a sweetness and lift on the nose which is exquisite. Unlike any other wines in the region, the Mitjaville portfolio is more otherworldly than usual in 2018.
