This richly fruity, up-front Pomerol exhibits attractive coffee, smoky, black cherry, forest floor, and underbrush characteristics. Medium body, excellent richness and purity, soft tannins, and decent acidity suggest it should be consumed over the next 10-15 years.
Ripe red cherries, blueberries and even a touch of strawberry. There is impressive denisty and structure on the palate, which is ripe with rich fruit and softening but plentiful tannins. The ripe fruit core will give drinking pleasure now, but this has the potential to age.
An impressively endowed, deep ruby/purple-tinged effort, the 2005 Clos Rene exhibits aromas and flavors of cassis, black cherries, smoke, and figs. With good density, terrific fruit on the attack and mid-palate, and a moderately long finish, it should drink well for 12-15 years or more.
