Tasting Notes

Gorgeous nose, very expressive – classic. More powerful than the other cuvées from this producer in 2016 and still a little unrelenting. Needs lots of time but has all the power and fruit as well as freshness and impressive structure. 2023-2033

The 2016 Barolo Cannubi is ample and generous, with terrific textural resonance and breadth. Ripe dark cherry, plum, spice, licorice, new leather and menthol all flesh out in a supple, racy Barolo loaded with class and personality. The 2016 is rich, sensual and wonderfully inviting. 2024-2036

Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, February 2020

Lovely nose of cedar wood, lavender, eucalyptus and sweet red fruit. So many layers of aromatic complexity. This is a more delicate, ethereal wine than the Bussia but not at the expense of structure and length. Serious vin de garde. Complex.

Barolo. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. A little herbal on the nose, but otherwise firmly closed. Firmly closed on the palate, too, but the fine balance is evident as are the tightly woven tannins. 14.5% Drink 2024 – 2034
