The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Clos le Village hails from a lieu-dit that's richer in active limestone than the parcels that inform Felettig's Vieilles Vignes, but it's a warm mesoclimate—just by the church—and higher in pH. Unfurling to reveal notes of ripe red berries, candied peel, peonies and cinnamon, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and fine-boned, with ripe acids and a precise finish.
A slightly more deeply pitched nose that is both fresh and ripe features aromas of both red and dark raspberry, spice and violet nuances. There is a bit more volume to the caressing but punchy flavors that culminate in a lightly stony bitter cherry pit-inflected finish. Lovely.
