Tasting Notes

The 2019 Mâcon-Pierreclos 1er Jus de Chavigne has turned out brilliantly, mingling notions of green pear and orange oil with hints of wheat toast and honeycomb. Medium to full-bodied, immensely concentrated and incisive, it's textural but tensile, with a terrifically long, searingly mineral finish. I tasted this cuvée as two separate components, followed by a putative final blend, and I have no doubt that the finished cuvée will be even better from bottle.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, January 2021

Pale lemon in colour. Powerful and immediate nose of citrus pith and peach stone, layered with hints of cream and spice. There is an undercurrent of mineral tightness and precision here. The palate is thick and dense on entry, with the power tamed by rich dry extract and textural complexity. Beautifully delineated stone fruits offer the juiciness, but this powerful and almost grippy wine is fresh and vibrant. The finish is long, expansive and intense. Give it a year in bottle before approaching.
