Tasting Notes

Very velvety tannins with juicy plums, currants and chocolate. Hazelnut, too. Full body yet so textural and gorgeous. Lots of walnut and fruit at the end but very subtle. Tension. So lovely and attractive already, but give it four or five years.

The 2020 Lagrange (Pomerol) wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, loamy soil and new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy palate with a gourmand core of fruit framed by powder tannins that assert themselves on the finish.

Opaque purple-black colored, the 2020 Lagrange (Pomerol) slides effortlessly out of the glass with upfront notes of baked black plums, boysenberries and spiced blackberries, plus nuances of bouquet garni, forest floor and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with soft-textured, juicy black fruits and lovely spicy accents, delivering just enough freshness to lift the long, savory finish. Drink 2024 - 2040

The depth of Pomerol comes through, bitter chocolate shavings give attractive focus and there is a touch of gourmet spice with rosemary and cracked black pepper. I like this, the tannins close in and shut down the exuberance through the mid palate, things are closed in right now but it will power ahead over the next few years. Drinking Window 2024 - 2020

100% Merlot, harvested on 18-20th September and will be aged in 30% new oak for 16-18 months. A complex bouquet of ripe red cherry, dried herbs and cedar. The palate is very silky with a generous, seamless texture and cashmere tannins that gently prop up the fruit. Bursting with red cherry, plum and a little kirsch, this is very charming and forward. There are sweet spices and milk chocolate notes on the supple finish. This seductive, delicious and archetypal Pomerol will provide excellent drinking pleasure in the mid-term at an excellent price point for this appellation. Great value.

(100% M)
Spicy, fragrant, wild-rose floral, ripe blackberry Merlot; rich, fresh, finely tannic, a really lovely balance; rich, generous, firmly fleshy wine, sweet in flavor, with a delicious density, long to taste, mineral-tinged blackberry-ripe fruit, with fine, lightly aromatic black fruit-cored length. An exceptional Lagrange. Really beautiful mid-rank Pomerol. 2026–40+.

Absolutely beautiful with blackberry, walnut, crushed-stone and lavender character. It’s full-bodied and very layered with ultra fine tannins and an extremely long finish. Really well done for the vintage. Best in a long time.
