This is extremely linear and refined with a super-fine line of tannins running through the center of the wine. It’s full-bodied, yet tight and sophisticated, with a long, long finish. Plenty of blackcurrant, dark chocolate, walnut and cedar in the aftertaste. Try after 2025.
The Lascombes 2019 has a deep garnet-purple color. It bursts on the scene with flamboyant scents of blueberry pie, blackcurrant pastilles, and kirsch, followed by suggestions of candied violets, crushed rocks, and licorice. The full-bodied palate is dense, rich, and opulent, featuring velvety tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and layered.
Offering up a rich bouquet of blackberries, cassis, burning embers and sweet spices, the 2019 Lascombes is full-bodied, lavish and textural, with a voluminous core of fruit, lively acids and plenty of ripe, powdery tannin that asserts itself on the youthfully firm finish. This is a powerful, muscular style of Margaux that remains nicely balanced in its register. - drink 2027-2050
Always love going back to more classically balanced 2019 vintage after tasting an exuberant 2018, and it is no different here. Captures the gourmet pleasures and the lusciously seductive texture of Lascombes tannins, given muscularity and a stretched-out quality through sculputed black cherry, cassis, damson fruit, overaid by sharper orange peel, mandarin, crayon and slate. Delicious, great quality, harvest September 19 to October 7, 48h/h yield, 60% new oak. Delphine Barboux technical director, Julien Viaud consultant.
Made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Lascombes is deep garnet-purple colored. It explodes with expressive notes of creme de cassis, plum preserves, and wild blueberries, plus suggestions of dark chocolate, star anise, and tilled soil. Full-bodied, rich, and seductive, it has firm, ripe, plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and impactful.
Enjoyable in the depth of its autumnal fruits on the attack, but a little tight. More serious than the 2018 Lascombes, as is so often the case with the 2019 vintage, give it a good five or six years before opening. Black cherry and vanilla pod sweetness lies beneath the tannic frame. 48hl/ha yields, 60% new oak. Harvest September 19 to October 16.
