Tasting Notes

The 2017 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is classy and elegant to the core. Medium in body and wonderfully translucent, the 2017 captures all of the finesse of this site. Naturally, the 2017 also shows the ripeness of the year, but it retains its sublime sense of poise. The 2017 Bricco delle Viole is one of the clear stand outs of the year. 2025-2042

This 2017 G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco delle Viole has intense, vibrant and precise aromatics of pure wild strawberry, with hints of spice in the background. The nose becomes more and more interesting over time. It has a beautiful texture which flows on the palate, full-bodied and concentrated without being heavy. There is a brilliant diamond-like sharpness to the fruit and the chalky tannins are really lovely. This is a very classy Burgundy-like wine, so easy to drink and full of refreshing acidity together with vibrant sweet fruit. Wait two years, it will last 15-20 years.
