Flowers and sweet strawberries with hints of walnuts and dried flowers follow through to a full body with tight, chewy tannins that give form and tension to the wine. Closed and reserved. Needs time to come together. Better than the 2015 and 2016. Better after 2024.
With fruit from La Morra, the Mauro Molino 2017 Barolo Conca shows some ripeness with dried raspberry and cherry, and the wine boasts an open-knit texture. The aromas are dense and rich; however, the primary freshness of the wine is present and makes for a good balance against those hot-vintage characteristics. Pretty tones of tobacco and spice fill in the rear. Overall, Conca shows extra width and volume.
