Corton Charlemagne, Jean-Marc Roulot 2019

Tasting Notes

A lean pale colour with a little green tint. Pure and mineral, mildly reductive, shy but firm. The vintage shows in the sweetness of the fruit on the palate. So the question is, will Jean-Marc’s austere approach and the opulence of the vintage harmonise in time, or fight each other? Evolution with time in the glass clearly suggests the former.13.5% alcohol. Drink from 2028-2038. Tasted: September 2023.

This year some grapes from Hautes Mourottes have been added to the provision from Les Languettes. Not only does Jean-Marc think this makes a successful mix, but he also has 10 barrels of it! Pale lemon yellow. Sun on the stones, but the stones definitely have the upper hand, medium-plus in body, very delicious, with good tangy notes at the back, absolutely in the mineral style.
