Tasting Notes

The 2020 Cornas Les Eygats tightens things up considerably and is more focused and precise, with beautiful cassis and black cherry fruits as well as notes of iron, ground pepper, violets, and incense. Rich, concentrated, and powerful on the palate, it has notable acidity, fine, firmer tannins, beautiful purity, and a great finish. It needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years. but it's fabulous stuff and will have 15-20 years of overall longevity. 2026-2040

From a cooler terroir in the northern part of the appellation, the 2020 Cornas Les Eygats is inky purple and gives up a powerful, full-bodied, concentrated style offering loads of minerality as well as blue fruit, pepper, pen ink, and graphite aromas and flavors. Reminding me of the 2010, this dense, rich, massive Cornas is going to require bottle age, but it’s insanely good.
