Revealing scents of peach, pear and honeycomb, the 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is medium to full-bodied, rich and fruit-driven, with a textural attack and a fleshy core, girdled by succulent acids. A bit more reserved than the Vaillons, it should evolve nicely with a year or two in bottle.
Bright lemon colour with a fine nose of lime peel, lemon oil and a hint of honeyed white fruit. The palate showcases the ripeness of the vintage but equally its tension, with vibrant acidity matching notes of fleshy stone fruit to add real tang and lift. Silky, with an underlying savoury edge, it is ready to drink now and will offer real pleasure over the coming 3-5 years.
