Tasting Notes

The 2021 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese (Auction) offers a clear, intense and concentrated, complex and absolutely fascinating nose. Highly refined and elegant on the palate, this is a pure and salivating, immaculate yet mouth-tickling Spätlese with great complexity and a highly stimulating crystalline, saline and mineral structure. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023 (AP 19).

This cask sample of the 2021er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese Auction has a magically pure and deeply complex nose of whipped almond cream, lily flower, vineyard peach, minty herbs, and cassis. The palate is vibrating and full of energy. It leaves a gorgeous touch of fine creamy elements which interplay with fresh herbs and spices. The finish is almost endless and mouth-wateringly light. What a splendid and magical Spätlese! 2036-2061
