CDP Le Petit Livre d'A M Bach, Rotem & Mounir Saouma 2009

Tasting Notes

The 2009 Châteauneuf du Pape Le Petit Livre d’Anna M. Bach is scheduled to be bottled this September, after five years aging on lees in demi-muid. It too is 100% Grenache from the Pignan lieu-dit and vines planted in 1942. A pretty, perfumed and lively effort, it has notions of cassis, honey blossom, cherry blossom and wild flowers in its medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless profile. As with a lot of Mounir’s wines, this has a Burgundian-like aspect to its acid profile, yet it has solid concentration and length on the finish. Give bottles a handful of years in the cellar, and it should evolve gracefully going forward. Yet truthfully, with this élevage, I don’t think anyone really knows how this will evolve.
