This Domaine Guffens-Heynen Bourgogne Blanc is de-classified Macon, Saint Veran and Pouilly Fuisse, made from the fruit of the youngest vines and the last pressings of the older vines. It was vinified and matured in concrete vats. A terrific way to get into the Guffens domaine, this year's Bourgogne offers real character and personality in an approachable style. Light golden yellow in colour, stone fruit, fresh cream, almond and a touch of spicelead the way on the nose. The palate is soft, round and polished, generous in its fruit but never sweet, accented with white pepper. There is a chalky, textural depth that is pleasing and adds savoury complexity. Shining vibrantly through to an impressive finish that has just a hint of riper, more exotic fruit, this is open-knit and ready to drink. Enjoy over the coming 5+ years.
