Tim Fröhlich farms 21 hectares of vines, including the Grossen Lagen monopolies of Felseneck and Stromberg. Family-owned and managed for 200 years, Weingut Schäfer-Fröhlich produces wines of exceptional clarity, precision, energy and elegance. We are delighted to make a small offer of their 2025 vintage, wines that Anne Krebiehl MW, writing for vinous.com, describes as “pure exhilaration”.
After a challenging year in 2024, 2025 was a stress-free vintage. Winter rains replenished water reserves and spring and summer were more or less perfect, notably free of any excessive heat spikes. Harvest was early, and at Schäfer-Fröhlich it was the shortest on record, starting in the 15th September, with all fruit picked inside three weeks. Across Germany the vintage has been hailed as exceptional; Tim Fröhlich reckons it is his best yet.
We can offer four Grosses Gewachs Riesling wines from the portfolio in 2025, all of which receive exceptionally high praise and 97-99 scores from Anne Krebiehl. Felsenberg: “Wow”, Felseneck: “crystalline, crunchy and absolutely pure”, Kupfergrube: “This radiates coolness, Amalfi lemon peel purity, straightness and stoniest precision, all with incredibly mouthwatering savor” and Stromberg: “The palate runs like a marble along a track, unimpeded, smooth, straight, accelerating”.
The wines will be shipping to the UK in early 2027.
