Always a bit of a Goldilocks in this range, the Doctor's Flat is a crowdpleaser that brings together the sweeter tones of Macushla with some bright accents of Tuturi into a smooth, integrated and layered wine. Translucent purple in colour with intense, blue-red fruit on the nose, this is an open and powerful wine this year. There is structure on the palate, a greater feeling of tannin than on either of the other core wines that encourages patience with this wine. This is a grown-up wine, with sappy grip and powerful, crunchy fruit, there is nonetheless a sheen to the tones of red cherry, blueberry and strawberry thanks ot accents of sweet spice. Long on the finish, I expect this to be the longest-lived of the three.
Fresh, pure and linear with lovely red cherry fruit. Supple and fine but with good structure and acidity. Quite beautiful.
Good balance and some richness with, still, a little chewiness on the end. Very appetising. Drink 2026-2035.
Violets and purple fruit soar off the nose with elegance. The energetic, perfumed palate has a crushed velvet texture to display the plush fruit. Other than a hint of smoky, meaty reduction, everything here flows with lovely tension and definition in an almost Vosne-like way. Brilliantly made and displaying elegant power, it's approachable now but will improve significantly in the mid- to long-term
