Chambolle Musigny Amoureuses, Domaine Georges & Christophe Roumier 2019

Tasting Notes

The exquisitely floral and spicy nose is comprised by mostly dark berry fruit scents that are even more layered than those of the Bonnes Mares. There is almost painful intensity to the super-spicy and pure flavors that possess a highly beguiling inner mouth perfume that just adds to the overall appeal of the strikingly long finish. This markedly stony and well-balanced effort seems to be all lace and grace on the mid-palate, yet the youthfully austere finish tightens up sufficiently to make clear that the tannins will require extended cellaring to completely resolve. This classy and very stylish effort is also flat out superb and if you can find it, and afford it, don't hesitate. Note: from a .40 ha parcel; from yields of only 23 hl/ha in 2019 Drink: 2036+

Roumier's 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses was showing very well, bursting with aromas of blood orange, peonies, raspberries and plums. Medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and seductive, it's velvety and succulent, with a deep core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, perfumed finish.
