Côte Rôtie La Mordorée, Maison M. Chapoutier 2024

Tasting Notes

You can detect the 35% whole bunch on the nose, there's an attractive herbal, floral note. Only medium-bodied, this is very fresh, with good acidity, a sense of finesse, with length and tension. The tannins are just a little grainy, fibrous on the tip of the tongue, again likely from stems, and this should dissipate in time. It feels like a very traditional, savoury expression, slightly old fashioned even, in a good way. Less impacted by coulure here in 2024, so there was a reasonable yield – 20 hl/ha – from the 70-80-year-old vines. (Drink between 2031-2044)
