Tasting Notes

The domaine has five plots in Les Frionnes, of which the youngest is declassified. Planting dates vary between 1935 and 2011. The soil is mostly marl with some marine fossils. Pale lemon and lime in colour. Medium ripeness, still; the very chiselled aspect but with slightly more fruit weight. This model follows through very well on the palate, with waves of characterful orchard fruit and a little ripe citrus. Very long. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2025.

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, May 2026

From white marl over limestone, akin to the Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis, the 2023 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes emerges from the glass with aromas of nashi pear, white flowers, oyster juice, white peach and lemon oil. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, pure and chiseled, with a crisp core of fruit and ample chalky extract, concluding in a long, saline finish. Oceanic in style, it will delight purists.
