The La Tour Blanche has an introspective bouquet at first, one that is atypical of the estate. Give it some aeration and there are attractive chalky scents emerging, accompanied by citrus peel and linden. The palate is very well-balanced with a touch of pepper on the entry. This feels cohesive in the mouth, demonstrating well-judged acidity and a linear, zesty finish that leaves you with a twist of sour lemon. This is a very well-crafted La Tour Blanche, refined and intellectual.
Lots of spicy, dried-fruit character with underlying honey and sweetness. Full and fruity with a long, long finish. Serious for the vintage.
This Sauternes First Growth has been on top form in recent vintages. Pale gold, and intense on the nose with honey blossom, peaches and limes. The palate is viscous and powerful with peach cobbler and crême brulée lifted by orange blossom and sweet vanilla. Though this wine is rich and opulent, its zesty acidity gives it great balance. Another very impressive Sauternes from 2013.
Fat on the nose and fleshy on the palate there is a lot of sweet ripe fruit apricots and yellow peaches. The mid palate has freshness balancing the powerful mix and at the back there is a lack of real richness.
