The 2022 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard is showing nicely, unwinding in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of pear, white flowers, hazelnuts and wet stones. Medium-bodied, pure and satiny, it's seamless and youthfully understated, with a bright core of fruit and a long, saline finish.
Planted in 1985 and 2000, in a cooler site with marl and active limestone which ripens later. Another very pale colour. Quite tight on the nose, not revealing much. Youthful bitterness behind, tightly wound, plummy. A little hard to read at the moment. Drink from 2027-2035.
