Chassagne Montrachet Virondots, Domaine Marc Morey 2024

Tasting Notes

The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Virondot 1er Cru, as I have written before, is the Domaine's secret weapon. Splendid mineralité and terroir expression on the nose, this actually reminds me of a Chassagne from Lamy-Caillat. The palate is fresh and crisp, very precise with a prickle of ginger furnishing the finish. This so often punches above its weight and this challenging vintage is no different. Excellent. (Drink between 2027-2044)

Succulent strike, to a juicy, citrus, linear palate, undercut with a sharp line of acidity. Salty/herbal bite on the finish. It’s straight, light, and nervy. Slightly bitter quinine notes at the end. Persistent. Virondot is well-suited to a cooler vintage. 2029–35+.
