This is also expressive with a mix of wood and natural spice adding breadth to the fresh dark berry fruit and violet-suffused nose that precedes supple and velvet-textured flavors that possess good mid-palate concentration as well as a plum and mocha finish that coats the mouth. This is not a particularly elegant rendition of the appellation but it's generous and delicious.
Although there is a fair bit of new oak on the nose, you cannot deny that this Suchots has beautifully pure fruit intensity that is polished to perfection. Irresistible. The palate is silky smooth on the entry, filigree tannins, very refined like the Chaumes but more volume and depth. Pure red cherries and crushed strawberry towards the finish that is utterly gorgeous. Wonderful. Tasted January 2011.
