A dark ruby color is accompanied by crisp acids, sweet cranberry, black cherry, and darker fruit aromas, and a clean, pure, classically built, medium weight Pauillac. Still firm and tannic, this medium-bodied, elegantly wrought wine will benefit from another 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 12-15 years.

Very dark purple crimson. Relatively open, floral aromas. Quite lightweight and forward. Tannins extremely mild with fairly forward fruit but not much substance, though the finish is quite persistent. This should make a good, early, refreshing lunchtime claret. Very frank and charming for a 2004. Drink 2012-20.
Smoky, cedary. Some attractive fresh just-ripe cassis on the palate. Modest but finely balanced and lingering. Drink 2009-2018. Date tasted 17th Feb 09.
Made in a leaner, more austere style than usual (one of the characteristics of this vintage), the 2004 is elegant with fine tannin, sweet raspberry and black cherry fruit as well as hints of herbs and new oak. It possesses that crunchy, juicy fruit character that the French call croquante. This wine should drink well for 10-15 years.
