The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru was showing some reduction on the nose, though it is clear there is plenty of fruit behind it. The palate is well balanced with orange rind and nectarine on the entry, quite exotic for a Folatières, nicely composed however on the finish. This will need a couple of years once in bottle but I cannot help thinking that it could have given more. 2027-2042
(This is the Domaine Louis Jadot version on the Clos de la Garenne side). Medium lemon yellow. Not immediately demonstrative but there is a very obvious weight of flavour further back on the palate. The balance between the fruit and the acidity works very well, and the intensity continues to develop further. Needs more elevage. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Oct 2025.
Just a little shy and awkward at this early stage, the Folatieres shows a lot of stone fruit skin, peach stone and blood orange on the nose. The texture is impressive, grippy with extract and pithy in its fruit nature. A long, chiselled and focused wine, it should improve and unfurl with 2-3 years in bottle. It feels tightly coiled for now.
