Tasting Notes

Purple-tinged ruby in the glass, the Macushla continues to be the sweeter, darker and more polished wine of the range. The nose exhibits sweet and dark cherry tones, layered with berries, cinnamon and pressed dried flowers. The palate is seamless and slick, with polished, ripe tannins pushing pulpy sweet red and black fruit to the front. Rounded and succulent, there are notes of barbecue embers and cherry cola mingling with hedgerow fruit on the finish.

Thomas Parker MW, Farr Vintners, July 2025

After an initial touch of reduction, the vibrant, sweet-fruited nose of strawberry and black cherry makes way for a powerful palate with submerged tannins. The vibrant fruit is concentrated and mouth-coating, tempered by fine, sustained grip of cocoa and coffee tannins which soften to earthy, sousbois tones on the oaky finish of nutmeg and cinnamon spice. While it is very young with fresh, zippy acidity, this brooding, mysterious wine is built on power, size and scale. Spicy finish, nutmeg, cinnamon. Give it time to integrate
