One third of the vines date back to 1924. Not especially deep in colour, just a mite darker than the Beaux Monts, but thrilling on the nose. Here the whole bunch spice is just an additional factor, and does not take over. Raspberry and cherry, very little strawberry, spice behind, but a complete and complex whole. Velvet in texture, with a fine tensile strength, and gloriously persistent.
This is nothing like Nuits-Saint-Georges, which is by no means rustic and overly spicy. More expressive than Vosne-Romanee, it almost feels like Morey-St-Denis, with perfume and precision. Minerally, with grilled oranges and fine spices. Supple in texture but structural, ample and really long. Very well rounded. Drink from 2026.
