Tasted at l’Eglise-Clinet, the 2009 is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It has a very powerful, lifted bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow and a touch of dried blood. The palate is medium-bodied but with very good weight and vigour. Fine purity here, raspberry, wild strawberry and a touch of spice coming through towards the finish. Great persistency with a hint of Schezhuan pepper on the aftertaste. Tasted September 2011.
This estate, owned by L'Eglise Clinet's Denis Durantou, has produced a dense purple-colored, relatively backward wine with a nose of creme caramel, white chocolate, black cherry and black currant. The wine is medium to full-bodied, very pure, elegant and in need of several years of cellaring. It should last for 10-15 years.
Blueberry and loads of darks fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and silky tannins. Juicy finish.
Attractive fruit with freshness and good length. Consistent value and quality. Drink 2013-2020.
A brilliant effort from proprietor Denis Durantou, this wine (80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon) hit 14.5% natural alcohol. Rich mocha and black cherry notes are followed by a powerful, lavishly rich, almost extravagant style of wine that is almost atypical for Lalande de Pomerol, yet the purity, richness, and density are all there. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. (Tasted two times.) Drink 2010-2025.
Picked between 15th and 28th September, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, this has a ripe, quite rounded nose with red-berried fruit, a hint of apricot and mulberry with moderate definition. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, sturdy tannins, great depth of flavour with blackberry, cassis, a touch of spice and in the background a hint of something more exotic: yellow plum and apricot. Mouth-filling, quite extroverted towards the finish. Very fine.
