Chambolle Les Sentiers, Domaine Robert Groffier 2015

Tasting Notes

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers suffered a lot of millerandage this year according to Nicolas Groffier. It includes 80% whole bunch fruit and is matured in one-third new oak. Like the Hauts-Doix, I appreciate the precision and focus on the nose here, the mineralité that percolates through the red and black fruit, a puff of chalk dust with further aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly sweeter and more candied entry than the Haut-Doix. It firmly grips the mouth, but never imposes itself too much, whilst there is a pleasing blood orange tincture on the focused and lively finish. This is another very excellent wine from Nicolas Groffier.
