Chassagne Montrachet Boudriotte Rouge, Domaine Ramonet 2014

Tasting Notes

A deft touch of wood sets off the mildly fruity but pretty aromas of pepper-inflected red raspberry, cherry and earth. There is good vibrancy to the barely medium weight (though by no means dilute) flavors that possess fine delineation that carries over to the appealingly textured if youthfully austere, linear and compact finish. This is not especially complex but it's certainly attractive in its fashion and with a few years of cellaring it may well develop more depth. In sum, this isn't deep but I like it anyway.

There is just enough reduction to shave the top notes from the aromatic profile of cherry, raspberry, herbal tea and earth whiffs. Like the Clos St. Jean, the flavors are not exactly lighter weight but neither are they especially concentrated though on the plus side they do possess excellent flavor authority while managing to offer sneaky good depth and persistence. I wouldn't describe this as a classic Boudriotte of power and punch but it is finer than the typical example. Worth checking out.
