From a vineyard that was formerly owned by Vincent Girardin and that Jean-Claude Ramonet has in fermage, the 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret Monopole displays an old-fashioned bouquet of musky peach, tangerine and honeycomb. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and ample, with a rich, layered mid-palate that's structured around vibrant acids. The extremes of the vintage make their mark but it's a superb wine in it somewhat idiosyncratic style. Drink 2019 - 2029
Apricot, peach and grapefruit aromas and flavors are the major themes in this complex white. Smoke, mineral and butterscotch accents add depth as this cruises to a long finish. Shows power and restraint, with the citrus-tinged finish leaving a fresh impression. Best from 2021 through 2030.
