The wines of Egly-Ouriet are benchmark Grower Champagnes that define the modern landscape of small production and high quality from the region's forward thinking estates. Francis Egly was one of the pioneers in this regard, adopting Burgundian methods with a heavy focus on farming, rather than buying in grapes as is commonplace for the Grandes Marques.

Egly's wines are powerful, gastronomic and complex with a clearly defined style that allows for long-term ageing, even for the wines that are not from a single vintage. Old vines on great terroir are managed skillfully to produce some of the best fruit in all of Champagne. Two presses with customised chilling plates ensure the finest juice is taken, a significant investment that has had a positive impact on quality.

Oak plays a pivotal role in most cuvées, with barrel ageing adding depth and texture over an overt spice from wood. Lees ageing in bottle is long but never excessive, adding further layers of complexity while retaining fruit. Kristaps Karklins, writing for the Wine Advocate, believes it is Egly's "meticulous and unyielding pursuit of quality that finds its expression in some of the most intensely characterful wines produced in France."

We are delighted to offer Egly-Ouriet's 2025 disgorgements, shipped directly from the domaine, headlined by the Brut Grand Cru. The latest release is built around the excellent 2020 vintage (50%), together with the equally impressive 2019 (30%) and 2018 (20%) to make one of the strongest trios we have seen from this estate. It was fermented and matured in oak ahead of four years on lees in bottle before disgorgement. It is another belter from Egly, driven and layered, lightly toasted and fragrant with real structure and depth. You can drink it now but it will only improve with 2-3 years in bottle and has a long life ahead.

This year's release is excellent value for such a high quality and ageworthy wine - it is £330 per six in bond. We have a full range of Egly's latest disgorgements available, shipped directly from the domaine and detailed below.

You can read more about Egly-Ouriet in Thomas Parker MW's blog from his visit in 2021.

All the wines are packed in sixes (or three magnums) and available for immediate delivery.
