I have had mixed results with this wine but when it's 'on', it offers dazzling aromatic purity with its exceptionally pretty earth and spice-infused red berry fruit-scented nose. While the middle weight and mineral-inflected flavors do not possess the superb complexity of the very finest vintages of this wine I very much like the balance and the overall sense of harmony. For my taste this has now arrived at its full maturity though I underscore that it should be capable of holding here for many years to come. In sum this is an excellent if not genuinely great Roumier Ruchottes. (Drink starting 2022)
Bright colour, youthful, lovely perfume, amazing richness of fruit, the customary sweetness. Becomes leaner in the bottle, only a faint hint of sweetness remaining, this will climb in the future, but it is not in a seductive frame of mind tonight.
