Looking at the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, which is 80% Roussanne and the rest Grenache Blanc and Clairette, it has a rocking nose of apple blossom, melon, honeyed minerality, and spice as well as medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. It picks up a terrific green almond-like nuances with time in the glass, and it’s textured, balanced, and just another brilliant white from this team.
Pale straw in colour. Waxy, broad and rich on the nose. This is both highly ripe and highly savoury at once, all non-fruit yet heady in tropical fruit stones. The palate is broad, succulent in peach and apricot fruit yet fresh with waxy citrus pith. Honeyed and increasingly gourmand, this has wonderful textural weight. Layered and already sumptuous on the finish. Some choose to age this wine, but personally I would drink this in youth, when there is already complexity but a matching vibrancy to the wine.
